Introduction
Town Centre Management is now successfully established in over 500 towns in the UK.
In 1998, the Huntingdon Town Centre Partnership Ltd (The Partnership), Huntingdon's Town Centre Management initiative, was formed. It is an organisation made up of representatives from local businesses, the District and Town councils, voluntary organisations and key stakeholders in the town, who work together to improve the town centre of Huntingdon.
In 2002, The Partnership employed its first Town Centre Manager dedicated to Huntingdon, giving the aims of the Partnership greater impetus. Since then, it has developed a reputation as an influential and productive business organisation. Town Centre Management is about town centre businesses and organisations working together in partnership in a proactive way to improve their environment. The Partnership's impact and influence is extensive and it is now firmly established as a key player.

Projects such as Huntingdonshire Business Against Crime, the Continental Market, Farmers' Markets, Town Maps, specialist training programmes and our contribution to the improvements to St Benedict's Court, have built a reputation for delivery on the ground. The Partnership has also made valuable contributions to a longer-term vision, acting as a consultative body on strategic developments such as the Princes Street Development, the Huntingdonshire Transport Strategy and Car Park Strategy.
This Business Plan sets out to provide a snapshot of some of The Partnership's activities and achievements over the last two years and sets clear, explicit, and measurable targets for the future. It provides a structure on which to build for the future prosperity and development of Huntingdon and clearly demonstrates how everyone working in partnership can turn aspiration into reality.
Huntingdon has a very exciting future. In 2007 we will see major improvements in Chequers Court with significant new retail openings, and in 2006 we saw environmental improvements in St Benedict's Court, the opening of the new Saxongate Centre on Hartford Road, and the completion of Phase 1 of the Princes Street Development. The priorities laid out in this Business Plan will ensure that we expand to meet the demands of a growing town centre.
Thanks to the continued support of our core funders and the generosity of in-kind contributions, The Partnership has established a solid working foundation. We are confident that, at a time when Huntingdon is entering a phase of rapid development and improvement, the Partnership will continue to build on its record of success.
