Crime Reduction

What is Huntingdonshire Business Against Crime (HBAC)?

Huntingdonshire Business Against Crime - Logo HBAC is a unique initiative from Huntingdon Town Centre Partnership, set up in direct response to requests from retailers in Huntingdon for help in combating business crime. The Partnership worked closely with the Huntingdon Community Safety Partnership to find a solution to this problem and in March 2004 HBAC was launched.

HBAC is a membership organisation made up of town centre retailers and businesses in Huntingdon, St Ives and St Neots, adopting a proactive approach to reducing the opportunity for crime to take place. HBAC is a member of the national organisation, Action Against Business Crime.

What does it do?

Huntingdon Business against crime The sole aim of HBAC is to help retailers and businesses reduce the cost of crime and fraud to their business and make it difficult for thieves to carry on offending. HBAC is a partnership between local retailers and businesses in the three towns, Huntingdon Town Centre Partnership, St Ives Town Initiative, Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Huntingdonshire District Council and other organisations. It has its own dedicated Scheme Manager, a management structure led by retailers and businesses, a Constitution and Codes of Practice, including data protection registration, and its own membership fee structure. Membership of HBAC is available by joining Huntingdon Town Centre Partnership.
